{Bear Hugs Mix}

February 6, 2013 By meredith 19 Comments

I mentioned earlier this week that Jackson and I went to a play group together.  Well, for the adults I made Chocolate & Oreo Parfaits, but for the kiddos I wanted something a bit more at their level.  Again, I headed to my pantry to see what I could put together that would be perfect for little hands.  I found the following ingredients and got a brilliant {at least I thought so} idea.

ingredients

To make Bear Hugs Mix, you’ll need:

1 box of honey flavored Teddy Grahams

1/2 cup milk chocolate chips

1/2 cup Mallow Bits {think the size that comes in the hot chocolate packets}

To get started, rip off a few pieces of wax paper and place on a clean counter top.  Dump the entire box of Teddy Grahams onto the wax paper and spread into a single layer.

Melt 1/2 cup of milk chocolate chips according to package directions.  Using a spoon, drizzle the chocolate all over the Teddy Grahams.

drizzle chocolate

Before the chocolate begins to harden, sprinkle 1/2 cup of the Mallow Bits over the chocolate bears.

Note: I found the jar of Mallow Bits at Wal Mart, but have also seen them at my regular grocery store as well.  Look in the hot chocolate & coffee aisle.

marshmallows

Let the mix dry on your counter for at least an hour so that the chocolate hardens and the mallows stick to the bears.  You can store Bear Hugs Mix in an airtight container for about a week.

To share with the kiddos I put a small scoop into snack sized Ziploc bags {since we were travelling to another house}.  You could also use a cute cupcake liner to share the snack.

This little mix would also be so cute for a class Valentine’s Day party!

Enjoy!
