Sweet Tea Syrup

April 14, 2014 By meredith 12 Comments

With the warmer weather finally making it’s way to our neck of the woods, I’ve found that sometimes I want something a little more than plain old water.  Don’t get me wrong, I drink tons of that daily, but sometimes you want a sweet treat, ya know?  One of my favorite spring and summer time drinks to enjoy is sweet tea.  And just because some people like theirs sweeter than others, I’ve got the perfect solution…sweet tea syrup!

Make a mason jar full of sweet tea syrup to sweeten up your favorite iced tea this spring or summer from Wait Til Your Father Gets Home #sweettea #icedtea #recipes #drinks

Easiest recipe ever people!

Brew your iced tea according to package directions.  I love to use the Lipton Cold Brew tea, and brew enough for a big pitcher.

To make the sweet tea syrup, boil 4 cups of water with 1-2 cups of white sugar {depending on how sweet you want it to be}.  After the mixture boils for about 2 minutes, cool completely in the refrigerator.  I like to keep ours in a tall mason jar.

And there you have it!  An easy {and sweet} way to drink your tea this spring!

Whoa. Do you know how much sugar I will consume if I had that wonderful-ness sitting in my fridge? Sounds so good though!

What a great idea to make your own simple sweet syrup – would be good for iced coffee drinks, too – I think.

How much syrup do you use per pitcher?

I typically just keep it in a mason jar in the fridge and use it as I make each glass.

I believe that this recipe is actually simple syrup. I have made it for years to sweeten any cold drinks. It’s just almost impossible to get sugar to melt in an iced drink and this is a simple tasty solution!
