Shamrock Number Matching & a Flash Giveaway

I don’t usually do much decorating for St. Patrick’s Day.  With two little ones running around, I’ll be honest, the day is going to probably be a pretty normal one, with maybe a little pinch or two.  My days of enjoying a green beverage at happy hour are long gone!

I am excited however to share a simple and fun Shamrock Number Matching Game today!

This is an easy creation that you can use again and again with your little ones {especially if you get it laminated, like I chose to do}.

All you’ll need to make a number matching game is:

Microsoft Word {to make the number mats}

Cricut Explore™ {to cut the shamrocks}

green cardstock

mini stickable velcro dots

laminating machine

scissors

tin to store shamrocks

I created the mats using Microsoft Word and used a fun font that I had downloaded ages ago, called Miss Smarty Pants.  To cut the shamrocks, I used my brand new Cricut Explore™.  Cutting was a breeze {as usual} and I used the Cricut Spatula tool to pop the shamrocks off my mat in a snap!

I realized that I’d need to get the game laminated if I wanted it to last at all.

Toddlers + Cardstock = quick way to ruin an educational game.

So I headed to Staples and they were able to laminate everything for me for about $3.  I think in the future {especially when I’m homeschooling, I need to invest in a home laminator}.

Once I cut out each shamrock, I used mini velcro dots on the number mats and also on the shamrock cut-outs.  Yes, I realize that makes the game pretty easy seeing the correct number of dots already on the mat, but hey, my little guy is only 2 and he’s just starting to truly learn and understand what his numbers are.  This will only help him!

He loves it and took to putting the little shamrocks on all by himself immediately.

And the best part?!  Since the number mats are plain, I can create lots of different cut out shapes for future holidays and events!
