{Italian Green Beans & $50 Walmart Gift Card GIVEAWAY}

June 12, 2013 By meredith 54 Comments

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Unilever.  As always, all opinions are 100% my own.

As a busy mama of TWO sweet boys under the age of two, I strive for dinners at our house to be two things…EASY to prepare and HEALTHY.  I love knowing that with Country Crock, I can enjoy a great buttery taste in our meals with 70% less saturated fat and 30% fewer calories than butter.  And by using Country Crock instead of butter in my recipes, there is definitely no compromise on the great taste it offers!

On this particular evening, I decided to use Country Crock to prepare a dish that I typically make at least once or twice a week, but had never attempted to make cooking with spreads instead of butter.  It’s a fabulous and healthy side dish, that your family is sure to LOVE!  I adapted this recipe from the It’s Good To Know website.

Italian Green Beans

4 Tbsp. Country Crock® Spread, divided
1 clove garlic, chopped
1 cup fresh green beans {found in the produce dept of Walmart}
2 Tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese

#ad #CookWithSpreads and make Italian Green Beans with Country Crock and Wait Til Your Father Gets Home

  1. Melt 2 tablespoons Country Crock® Spread in a nonstick skillet over medium heat and cook garlic, stirring frequently for about 1 minute. Stir in rinsed and trimmed green beans and heat through, about 8 minutes.
  2. Add remaining 2 tablespoons Spread and cheese over green beans. Cook until spread is completely melted and cheese browns a bit, about 3 minutes.

Stay tuned for my last post where I’ll share a short video on the process of making the side dish while cooking with Unilever spreads!

Until then, I’ve got a great giveaway today for a $50 Walmart Gift Card, so that you can pick up some I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!® or Country Crock® to try in your next recipe.  The giveaway is open to my U.S. readers age 18 and up, and runs through 11:59 pm EST June 20, 2013.  Good luck!

    We always use ICBINButter. Although I do wish my guys would actually eat green beans! Neither one of them is interested in green vegetables.

      Have you tried the fresh green beans though from the produce department instead of from a can? My husband HATED green beans growing up, but the second I made the fresh stuff he completely changed his mind and prefers them with almost every meal!! Give it a try 🙂
