{Cutting Edge Stencils Review & Giveaway}

December 10, 2012 By meredith 16 Comments

A few weeks ago I was given the chance to review a stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils, and let me tell you…I was super excited to get to try one out in my home!  It took me a whole week to choose which stencil I wanted to try because I immediately fell in love and had so many projects swimming through my mind with each click of my mouse.  I finally settled on the 7 Stars Stencil Kit.

Since this would be our {I say our because I am so not the painter in our family…that job usually, who am I kidding, pretty much always goes to my husband} first time stenciling, we wanted to choose something smaller that wasn’t one of their many interlocking stencils to cover large areas.  The 7 Stars Stencils were a perfect fit for us!

Since we had never tackled stenciling before, we wanted to make sure it was done correctly.  Luckily Cutting Edge Stencils has some awesome video tutorials to help you get started, like this one…

Once I felt confident about the process of stenciling and shared my thoughts with my husband, we got to work.  I say shared my thoughts because by this point he already had the stencils taped to the wall in the position he wanted.  Like I said…he wears the painting pants in this family.

Once the stencil was positioned where we wanted it, hubby got to work.  Now you can use a small roller for any stencil project {which I most likely would have used}, but hubby went with a paint brush…as it was simply a matter of his preference.  I wasn’t going to complain, since he would be getting the job done for me!

You do not need much paint at all, in fact using too much would result in a huge mess.  Remember, when stenciling, less is always more.  You can always go back and add more paint if needed.

After placing another star on the left side of the center one, our guest bedroom felt a little more complete!

I just love how the stars add another pop of color against the chocolate brown comforter!

Ready for this news!?  Cutting Edge Stencils wants to give one of my lucky readers $50 towards a stencil of their choosing (with free shipping)!!  Talk about perfect timing for the holidays!  This giveaway is open to U.S. residents only.  Please enter using Rafflecopter below…

    I think I would chose either Spring Song Birds {love birds!} or Rabat. I like Casablanca, too, so it would be a really hard choice!
