{poppyseed ham sliders}

July 30, 2012 By meredith 20 Comments

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend with your family and friends!  I’m so excited to share with you one of my favorite recipes–Poppy Seed Ham Sliders.  They are perfect for so many events…movie nights, super bowl parties, birthdays, a heavy appetizer at a family get-together, left over Honey baked ham from a holiday (really, I could go on and on).  I made these recently for a neighborhood get together a few weekends ago, and my tray of 24 sliders was gone in less than 10 minutes.  I must have had 5 different people ask me for the recipe.  Yes, they are THAT GOOD!

To make {Poppyseed Ham Sliders} you’ll need:

24 King’s Hawaiian Rolls (Publix and Kroger always have these in the deli somewhere)
1 lb of ham
1 package swiss cheese slices
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon poppyseeds
1 1/2 tablespoons yellow mustard
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 Tablespoon minced onion
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Preheat your oven to 350!
To assemble each slider, simply spread mayonnaise onto each side of the opened roll, add a slice of ham and a slice of swiss cheese.  I tore my swiss cheese slices into smaller pieces to fit on the sliders.  As you assemble the sliders, arrange them in a glass baking dish.  It’s okay if they touch!
Before putting the sliders into the oven, you’ll need to make the poppyseed sauce.  To make the sauce, mix together in a small bowl the remaining ingredients (poppyseeds, mustard, melted butter, minced onions, and Worcestershire sauce).
Simply pour the sauce on top of the closed sliders, pop them in the oven at 350 for about 12-15 minutes!
These sliders are best served warm, so as soon as they come out of the oven, put them on a serving tray and be amazed at how quickly they disappear!
If you want to assemble the sliders ahead of time, that’s fine!
Just don’t pour the poppy seed sauce over them until right before you bake.

Enjoy!

Please leave a comment, I love to hear from my readers!

I’ll be linking up to these fabulous parties!

I know what we will be making this weekend. We usually do the sliders with those rolls- but I like your twist.

I honestly HATE mustard too…I will not eat it. You can’t tell at all that it’s there (at least I don’t think so, and I’m an avid mustard avoider :)). Give it a try and don’t tell him!! Let me know if it’s a hit!

Thank you for this awesome recipe. We had a neighborhood potluck party and I brought these delicious sliders. It only took seconds for the sliders to be gobbled up by both kids and adults. I have added this to my list of favorite recipes!

I never have needed to because of all the butter on the topping!
