{monthly birthday banner}

July 26, 2012 By meredith 7 Comments

It’s been so fun reliving my little guy’s birthday this week!  I hope you’ve enjoyed all of the tutorials so far.  Today I’m sharing one of my favorite projects from the party, Jackson’s {Monthly Photo Banner}.

To make the banner you’ll need:

your favorite photo from each month from the past year (4 x 6)

colored cardstock

white cardstock

chip board numbers

jute twine

corner punches

2 inch circle punch

mini clothespins

To get started, I had to choose my favorite photo from each month of the past year (that was DIFFICULT)!  I took so many pictures that it was very hard to choose just one from each month.  He’s just so darn cute 😉

After I chose my pictures, I did some slight photo editing in PicMonkey (fantastic resource if you haven’t tried it yet) and sent them to Wal Mart for one hour photo printing.  I was excited to discover that I had 25 free 4 x 6 prints waiting for me in my online account.  I guess when I ordered his birthday invitations from there I qualified for a coupon!  Thank you Wal Mart!

I decided to use a rounded corner punch on each of the photos to soften them up a bit.

I then used my circle punch to cut 12 white circles and attached a black chip board sticker to each for every month.

Since my photos were 4 x 6, I trimmed my red and blue cardstock down to 5 x 7 sheets and used a decorative punch on each of the corners.  Soon I was ready to assemble the banner.  All I did was cut a piece of jute twine and attached each photo with a mini clothespin.

Seriously, how cute is that little smile?!

I loved that nothing was too permanent as far as the banner went.  I had the ability to adjust the distance between each photo after I hung it up since I didn’t use glue or anything!

I received a lot of compliments on the banner at the party.  I think the guests liked to see just how much Jackson has changed in his first year!  It’s kind of unbelievable when you think about it!

After the party, I took the banner apart and intend to put each photo in his baby book!

Check back each day this week for tutorials/recipes on:

autographed baseball “guest book”

burlap & twine name banner

monthly banner

handmade star topiary

cupcakes and firecracker cookies

Enjoy!

Please leave a comment, I love to hear from my readers!

I’ll be linking up to these fabulous parties!
