Memory Journals for Kids

January 28, 2015 By meredith Leave a Comment

I realize I’m speaking before they are all actually completed since my littlest is barely five months old, but happy to share that all of my children have baby books.  I made a promise to myself before they were born that they’d each have a complete baby book AND a collection of weekly photos from their first year.  So many told me that it couldn’t be done and that only the first born would have any pictures, so it became a priority in my life to prove everyone wrong.

As my two oldest are growing {way too fast} and talking {sometimes way too much…especially the three and half year old}, I’m realizing that there are so many more moments that I want to remember.  Sure, I always have my phone with me and probably take way too many pictures than I need to, but the actual words or actions they say or do can quickly be forgotten.  That’s why I started a Memory Journal for each of them this year.

To make my Memory Journals, I grabbed a simple three pack of some Moleskin Journals from the bookstore, cut each of their names using my Cricut Explore, and attached them to the front of the journals.  Easy!  If you don’t have a cutting machine, just grab some fun stickers at the craft store or even write them yourself using some Sharpie markers.

Now, these aren’t something that I write in everyday necessarily.  I keep all three of them on my nightstand and if something from the day sticks out in my mind before I go to bed, I make sure to jot it down.  Right now, I’m finding that it’s easier to write in my two oldest boys journals as the baby is still so young {and I’m busily filling out her baby book instead}.

I know these are books that I will treasure forever {and I’m sure one day share with my grandkids}!
