Hand Painted Stocking Markers

December 15, 2014 By meredith Leave a Comment

Christmas is getting closer and closer, and this mama is getting more and more excited.  I’ve started the process of wrapping all the presents because in all honesty, last year I saved that for the last minute and was scrambling!  I’ve also got our stockings hung and ready for the big man himself.  Since they don’t have our kiddos names on them, I made some simple Hand Painted Stocking Markers so he can tell them apart.

To make some for your stockings this year, you’ll need:

wooden letters
white acrylic paint or spray paint
red & green acrylic paints
paint brushes
glue
glitter
small wooden clothespins
red grosgrain ribbon
hot glue gun/glue sticks
sandpaper

To get things started, I lightly sanded each letter as they were a bit rough on the edges.  It took no time at all and made the painting process so much easier.  I used two thin coats of white spray paint for the base and then painted some different designs with my red and green acrylic paints.

Once the paint dried, I used some glue to add a few highlights of glitter here and there on each letter.

I made three small bows with some red ribbon and chose a spot on each letter to attach it.  I also attached a wooden clothespin to the back of each marker so it could easily clip onto the stocking.  Hot glue worked best for me!

And that’s it, once they were finished I attached them each to our stockings for the kids.  I LOVE how they turned out!

They would also be super cute as an ornament as well! Just clip it onto the tree and that’s it!
