School’s {in} Session Giveaway & Series

August 19, 2012 By meredith 47 Comments

School has been in full swing for about two weeks here in Georgia.  I still can’t believe I see that bright yellow school bus each morning now!  It seems like the summer just flew by!  Lucky for me, my little guy and I get to enjoy another year home together doing some learning and growing at his little 13 month old pace.  To celebrate the “season” and to satisfy my love of all things back to school, I’ve put together an awesome series featuring some of my most favorite bloggers. They’ve got some fantastic ideas to share with you over the next two weeks, and I can’t wait for you to see all of them!

In case you missed it this morning, I kicked off the series this morning with these fabric covered crate seats, perfect for use in the classroom or at home for little readers!

I’ll also have a big group giveaway going on (because who doesn’t love a giveaway?!)  This giveaway is open to U.S. residents only.  Don’t worry if you live outside the U.S. though…I’m planning on hosting another big one this year for both U.S. and Canada!

These lovely ladies have so graciously donated some wonderful prizes.  I am officially super jealous of the winner!

flats to flip flops::hand stamped hope necklace

Hi there!  My name is Ashley!  I am a wife and momma to two sweet kiddos and when I am not running around like a crazy woman I blog over at flats to flip flops!  I blog about fashion, faith, and philanthropy.  Modest fashion, mommy moments, and giving back are the theme at my place!  Love to see you there!
 Fav Back to School Memory:  Back to school shopping!  Hands down!  Can’t wait til my little lady is old enough to go(and care)!
Ashley will be donating a beautiful hands tamped, 24″ necklace.

aMAazing boutique::personalized teacher sign

I am a teacher at heart, and never thought I would open my own business.  However when my husband and I began talking about adding a new addition to our family, we knew that we would need extra income.
I have always liked making things, but it wasn’t until last summer that I really started exploring craft blogs.  I dedided that I wanted to make an unconventional wreath for my front door.  Thus creating my first “Welcome” sign.
Little did I know it, but that was the start of a brand new venture.  In February 2012, I opened my etsy shop– aMAzing Boutique.  I have been very blessed in that God is answering our prayers for more income.
Fav Back to School Memory: I will never forget my very first day of Kindergarten.  I got all dolled up and was so excited to start school!
If you are a teacher and you are looking for a cute way to personalize your classroom door, this is the sign for you! This sign features your name in the middle and your grade level or teacher-themed decal in the corner. These signs are custom order so you can provide the colors you would like.  They also make great teacher appreciation gifts. Dimensions: 11 inches wide by 9 1/4 inches long

 happy hour projects:: keep calm & study on necklace

Hi!  I’m Adrianne, and I blog over at Happy Hour Projects, where I focus on quick and easy projects you can do in an hour or less!  You’ll find a pretty wide variety of projects – jewelry, sewing, baking – but what they have in common is that I present photo tutorials for creative things you can actually fit into a busy day.  Because like a lot of you – my days are packed!

I’m a mom and a wife and a creative blogger, and I have an Etsy shop where I sell jewelry made from books and maps.  That’s what I enjoy during my me-time!  I love crafting (especially for my daughter) and writing, so the blog has been the perfect outlet for both passions.  I’ve been at it nearly a year now, and I have enjoyed the connections I’ve made with other bloggers and creative people so much.  There are just some things you can talk to your creative friends about that no one else can understand!   I also work full-time, so I don’t have as much time to enjoy my family and my hobbies as much as I would like (but hey, it’s keeps a roof over our heads and my craft shelves stocked, which is a good thing!)

I’m so happy to be part of Meredith’s Back to School event.  I always loved going back to school – I was always so anxious to start a new chapter – new classes, new people… and aren’t the back to school sales just the best?  LOL!  It won’t be too long before my kiddo is off to school herself (what?!?)!  I just hope she loves it as much as I did. 🙂

Happy Hour Projects // Facebook // Pinterest // Twitter // Etsy

Adrianne will be giving away this super cute “Keep Calm” glass necklace.  It measures 1″ wide by 2″ tall and is mounted in a nickel-free brass tray with a shiny silver finish.  It comes strung on a coordinating 20″ ball chain.  The winner may choose their own phrase (perhaps you’d prefer to “party on”, “craft on”, “write on” – whatever suits you best!

simply home sweet home::vintage inspired chalkboard sign

My Etsy Shop is SimplyHomeSweetHome.  I  love working on my shop and am always striving to make it better.   I feel this is just the start of my Etsy Adventure.  I have enjoyed blogging for years; but am new to Etsy.  I have always loved to share recipes, craft projects, vintage finds and my baking projects with others on my blog- Simply Living and Loving Each Day.
 In my Etsy shop, I sell handmade tags and other paper goods as well as vintage treasures.
Favorite back to school memory: Back to School Shopping was always a highlight growing up with sisters. We grew up on a farm several hundred miles from any major shopping.  Our mother always took us girls on a trip just to go school shopping.  My sisters and I loved to go shopping for new clothes to start the school year.   Now as a Mom, I am blessed with two boys and shopping for clothes is not that big of a deal- but the boys do look forward to picking out new shoes and school supplies.  Even though they dread summer to be over, we all enjoy the cooler weather and the fun times that fall brings!
Steph will be giving away a vintage inspired chalkboard sign created with vintage rulers, clips, number 2 pencils, red correction pencils and painted with chalkboard paint.  They measure 7 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches and are  perfect for Back-to- School decor or to use in the classroom, home, or for an upcoming bake sale!

kristen’s craft corner::set of {10} back to school clothespins

I am still so new to Etsy, my shop isn’t nearly finished!
I get my inspirations from everything I encounter on a daily basis, I stroll through a thrift store & go into overdrive! I see things as what they can be, not what they are. I am constantly picking up something dusty & forgotten on an old shelf & trying to figure out what I can turn it into.
I love yard, rummage, garage, moving, & estate sales. I find so much of my project ideas from things I get at these.
I am a mother of 5 beautiful, perfect children & the wife of a firefighter. I have football, band, baseball, soccer, 2 year old twins, & a toddling baby boy:)
My life is always busy & hectic, & I wouldn’t trade one second of it for all the money in the world! It’s perfect. So in my “spare” time, I spend it making things.
I want to spread my inspirations on to people who will love them as much as I love making them!

Back to school is such a huge part of my life having my 5 kiddos!
I have so many special memories from my school years, & I try to help give my children the chance of holding onto theirs by doing the “little things” I call them. I always make their teachers a gift at some point throughout the year, & I go a little overboard with school parties. I loved getting treat bags. It was the neatest thing to me, I didn’t even want to open them, I thought they were so pretty:) So I love doing treat bags for the kids at parties, hehe.
Smelly pencils, composition notebooks, the smell of erasers, ahhhh, it brings me back!

Kristen will be donating a set of 10 clothespins decorated with a back to school theme.
They can be used to sort graded papers, keep notes together, hang up artwork, use as gift tags, the possabilities are absolutely endless for these little beauties!

morena’s corner::vintage inspired magnetic chalkboard & custom magnets

Ciao!  I’m Morena, the crafty mind behind the tutorials at Morena’s Corner.  I love to share ideas for projects that are fast, frugal, fabulous, easy on time and money, and great to look at!  I am a stay at home mom to four young children, and crafting is what helps me maintain my sanity.  It’s a wonderful outlet and it’s how I get my “me” time.  In a past life I was an elementary school teacher and an assistant principal.  I miss teaching, so my blog is in a sense my virtual classroom.  I hope you’ll swing by to check out my corner!

In our home, the kids get to choose where and what we will have for dinner on the last night of summer vacation.  It’s kind of like one last hurrah before we get back into the routine of school.  They often ask to make breakfast for dinner!

Morena will be donating this adorable, vintage looking chalkboard that is also a magnet board!  The frame is approximately 5×7, and the chalk/magnet board measures 4×6.  Hang it up or prop it on an easel and use it to leave notes, display photos, or to hold recipes while you cook!  The possibilities are endless.  This prize also includes two custom bottle cap magnets with an image or phrase that you send me!

a cupcake love affair::$10 starbucks gift card

 Hey everyone! My name is Heather and I blog over at A Cupcake Love Affair! I decided to start blogging to keep my hands busy in my craft while trying to get a business up and running. It is my outlet for creativity, sounding board for ideas, friendship-building community, and, some days, the only way I stay sane! On my blog you’ll find all things cupcake, a lot about baking in general, and a little about me!

Speaking of “about me”, my favorite thing about back to school was shopping for supplies. I’m kind of a nerd like that. I still love new pens and pencils, notebooks, crayons, etc…Even at 30 I can’t help looking in the school supply section every year to see what’s there!
Source
I’m donating a $10 gift card to Starbucks for Meredith’s giveaway. If you read my blog at all, you’ll quickly find out that I’m a coffee addict and Starbucksaholic!! Come visit me and say hey. I promise you’ll find some fun, delicious cupcake ideas….Good luck to you all!

Sweetheart Party Designs creates a variety of handmade and personalized decorations to add a special touch to any room or event.  It’s the little details that make the big difference!
Favorite School Memory:  I always remember my mom taking pictures of my brother and me on the first day of school.  We would be standing awkwardly with our brand new clothes on and backpacks on our back.  I remember having every last detail of that outfit thought out!  Those pictures are so funny now – with the giant bangs and bright Bongo jeans … oh wait, didn’t bright jeans just come back in style?!

I love Back to School time and a tradition we do with our kids (that my parents did for me when I was young) is to give a little First Day of School prize. it’s my party shoppe::custom binder inserts and book labels

It’s My Party Shoppe is the one stop shoppe for your party needs. Invitations, banners, and accessories are all custom hand crafted.  Many themes to choose from and we love custom orders.  I started It’s My Party Shoppe approximately 2 years ago because I just love to plan, design and host parties.  I was helping my sister with her daughters Ice Cream Social for her 4th Birthday when I decided to start a store on Etsy.  It can become very stressful when planning an event so that is where It’s My Party Shoppe steps in. I create all the party decor so that you can host the perfect party without all the stress.
   Favorite back to school memory: I love school supplies and love to go shopping for school supplies.  I take the kiddos out and we have a blast shopping for new supplies.  I think I probably enjoy it more than they do.  We also make delicious treats for the first day of school.

seven alive all livin’ in a double wide::jewelry set

Hello, {Wait Till Your Father Gets Home} readers!! My name is Kadie and I blog at Seven Alive all Livin’ in a Double Wide.
Mostly I like to blog about my love of crafting, sewing, cooking, photography, and my favorite crocheting.  There is a good bit about being a mother of 5 fantastic kiddos thrown in for good measure.
One of our favorite back – to – school traditions is the first day of school photo.  I know a lot of families have the same tradition.  It is so fun to see how much they have changed by the end of the school year or just year to year.  I have all the kiddos line up {school goers or not} and snap a few photos.  This year we might add a few of the super cute photo props that are floating around blog world right now.
I’m really excited to be a part of Meredith’s  School’s {in} Session giveaway.  I will be giving away a jewelry set that would be perfect for an older girl going back to school.  Or you can keep it for your self {you deserve something for back to school too!}

ashley holwerda crafts::personalized 3 ring binder pencil pouch

I am the Luckiest girl in the world. Newly married in January, I am a cheerleading coach and in my spare time I love to create things that will make others feel a little extra special. Most of my inspiration come from personal necessity… I wanted cute gifts for my cheerleaders, special decorations for my wedding, unique cards to give out, personalized stationary, and personalized gifts for friends and loved ones.  I didn’t want to spend a crazy amount … and I thought other people might feel the same so I decided to share my creations with YOU!
To this day when I think of back to school one thing comes to mind, probably because I tortured my dear mother and told her no one would be my friend and my life would end if everything I had wasn’t “Lisa Frank.” Bright pink unicorns, yellow dolphins and purple tigers were all over everything I took with me on my first day from my back-pack, lunch box, all my folders, notebooks and right down to the last pencil and matching eraser. I don’t have kids yet, but when I do I know I will feel the same headache my poor mom felt for some other new fad that my dramatic child’s entire happiness depends on. May the Lord give me the same patience she had as well!
Ashley will be donating something that every kid needs…a 3 ring binder pencil pouch made specially for them.  These pencil pouches come in red, blue, pink, orange, green, or black with anything from a pencil & crayon, pretty flowers, zebra print or your favorite Disney character.  It can be personalized with your child’s name or any special message.  It’s definitely a new and improved back to school necessity for any lucky kid!

looking4lilly::back to school headband

Looking 4 Lilly owner Kristina, is a former Mental Health Case Manager turned SAHM and now, Etsy shop owner.  “I opened my Etsy shop in 2008, the shop is full of preppy bright accessories, mainly headbands.  I carry hard to find vintage fabric accessories.  I especially like to work with vintage Lilly Pulitzer fabric from the 1960-80s.  It was produced by Key West Hand Print Fabrics and is considered to be among the finest cotton textiles ever produced.  I currently have about 300 vintage Lilly prints on hand and love sharing these amazing prints with others.  I’m a complete push-over for novelty prints and bright colors, and spend a great deal of time looking for fabrics that incorporate both.”
Kristina will be giving away one 1″ headband made with script patterned fabric, trimmed with a coordinating ribbon, perfect for back to school!

life in cleveland::medium ad space

I was an architect, knitter, and world
traveler before my life was happily hijacked by my kids – a fashion obsessed
redhead and a baby so chill we call him the dude.  Now I blog mainly
about raising them in the city I love, Cleveland, Ohio.

Brave

My favorite memory of back to school is the first day of school picture.  My mom took one for every one of our first days.  So I can go back from preschool through senior year and see what was going on.  I can’t wait to start this tradition with my daughter – her first ever day of preschool is in a few weeks!

    Okay, I’m SUPER excited about them all!! I guess if I had to pick one the Target gift card jumps out at me. I’m really needing to start wearing maternity clothes but for some reason I feel guilty spending money on them? I’d be able to get something really cute AND guilt free with the gift card 🙂
