{j love}

February 28, 2012 By meredith Leave a Comment

I know, I know.  I’ve been MIA for a while.  In my defense, my husband is in AUSTRALIA (yes, really, Australia) which leaves just little old me to take care of the babe, the house, myself, and life in general here in the USA, and I also traveled to Michigan last weekend to visit some girlfriends and my parents.  So, when I wasn’t doing all those things mentioned above I tried to enjoy some time to myself via trashy TV and some bottles glasses of wine every now and then.  I feel like I’m caught up on day to day stuff and have even had some time for a few fun (and super inexpensive projects).  I’m dying to share!  First though, I wanted to show you this…

Isn’t it pretty?!  I’ve had this odd obsession with wearing a letter J around my neck since Jackson was born, but didn’t want to spend the big bucks on what I had previously found.  Well, my friend Vanessa did a little giveaway on her blog last month which led me here.  I was quickly introduced to John and Jillian Burden, a couple that is in the middle of the adoption process.  They write about their journey towards bringing their little boy home from Russia.  He is 17 months old and is currently waiting for them as they are in the home study phase of the adoption process.

Now, adopting is not cheap.  To help with the cost they are living frugally, applying for some adoption grants, and also doing some fundraising.  One way they are fundraising is through Jillian’s Etsy Shop.  I didn’t win Vanessa’s giveaway, but felt compelled to purchase a handstamped necklace (they are only $20-$25!).  I chose the letter J (for my little man), with the LOVE tag, and a green bead (I love me some green…it’s a bit of an obsession).  So now, not only do I have the J necklace I’ve been wanting for the past six months, but I feel so good about wearing it knowing that I’m helping a family bring home a sweet little boy of their own!

These would make great gifts for birthdays or Mother’s Day (just sayin’).  Please show the Burden’s some support and buy a necklace today! 🙂
