I don’t know about your neck of the woods, but here in Georgia we’ve had some very wet and rainy days this summer. At times I’ve found myself wondering if we were ever going to get to go to the pool again. Then we also have those days when it is so hot outside you can barely muster the strength and energy needed to walk to your mailbox to retrieve that days mail for fear of getting a sunburn in seconds. So….extreme wet or extreme hot here a lot this summer. Mix in three young kids under the age of six, and you’ve also got some extreme stir craziness. So, I busted out the “big guns” with some new playsets from Oriental Trading just a few weeks ago, and my kids have been pretty content with themselves since.
My littlest love got her very own play kitchen a couple of Christmases ago, and I can say that she uses it daily. Her big brothers even like to play with it from time to time {especially if I let them move it away from the wall a bit, so they can pretend it’s a restaurant}. I knew they’d all be ecstatic for a few new items to use with their kitchen.

It’s amazing what will excite kids when you help them tidy up their play spaces and introduce a few new-to-them toys. This can easily be accomplished without even purchasing new toys. When I help them clean their play spaces, many times I’ll tuck things away that perhaps they haven’t been using all that much. In a few weeks or months when it’s time to tackle a clean up job once again, I bring out those tucked away toys, and BAM…it’s like the best day ever because they had been “looking for that” forever! {Parenting trick, #1!}
I’m so excited I found all of these great Melissa & Doug playsets from Oriental Trading. They have saved the day on many occasions this summer. It’s either been dreadfully HOT or super WET outside, pretty much everyday. On days we can get to the pool for a bit to cool off and burn off some energy…great! BUT on those days that we can’t get there, I need indoor activities to help occupy my kiddos time. They love to pretend and play together, especially when it involves the play kitchen. A quick online shopping session with Oriental Trading, has made the “dog days” of summer pass by with fun and play!
