Explore and Discover with #TargetToys

In the age of all things iPad and touchscreen, it’s a priority of mine to keep my kids off the electronics as much as possible.  One way I love to do that is through interactive, good ‘ole play.  I’m not talking downloading the latest and greatest, I’m talking exploring and discovering through some totally awesome toys.  I recently discovered the Target Toy Emporium {available online}, and found just a few awesome toys that my boys both happened to LOVE.  They are definitely at age of exploring and discovering, so these toys were absolutely perfect for them to do just that!

I love to find the best toys possible for my little guys that will not only withstand their little boy strength but also challenge their little imaginations.  That’s why I was thrilled to find such an awesome selection of these Melissa & Doug toys in store.  For a larger selection, check out the Target Toy Emporium online.

I selected three awesome toys for my boys to begin their exploring and discovering and was able to save them for a rainy day.  I love to pull out a fun new game or toy for us to discover on days like that!  It takes their minds off the fact that they can’t go outside to play.  I selected this chunky puzzle that my littlest guy absolutely loves.  AND, he’s totally a puzzle pro with this one!

I also grabbed an adorable pattern block set that came with a huge selection of colorful, wooden pattern blocks and some designs.  My oldest loves to use this.  He will use the pre-designed boards, but then also likes to create his own pictures just on our kitchen table.  I love that he thought to use them that way!  His little imagination is constantly at work, and these help him create some pretty awesome pictures!

And of course, I grabbed these wooden alphabet and number blocks.  I’ve secretly always wanted a set for my kids, and I’m so happy to have them now.  My oldest has already said he wants to use them to build and spell words.  First we need to work on identifying each letter, then we’ll work our way up to words!  I’m encouraged by his enthusiasm and plans for these blocks though!  He’s one smart cookie!

In this technological day and age where EVERYONE, kids included, spend more time on their tablets and phones than on anything else, it’s so encouraging to find toys that completely engage my boys and encourage them to think.  They are totally using their imaginations while discovering new ways to use these toys, and I’m loving it!  The selection of toys from the Target Toy Emporium are definitely toys your kids will love, value they won’t outgrow, and brands you don’t expect.  For more inspiration and awesome ideas from the Target Toy Emporium, follow their board on Pinterest!

I am 100% in agreement with you, it is so important to interact with our children and playing outside when there older dose a world of good. I use to tell my oldest sister to quit letting the tv raise her children, but she did not listen and all 3 of her girls are in there 30’s and cant and wont get a job, they all still live at home and sad but true they don’t know the first thing about love, I hope a lot of people read your post. Keep doing what your doing because you are doing it right. all my children are doing great. thank you and GOD bless.

The ABC blocks are the BEST, and I’m sure I’ll be holding onto them even after the kids are older…timeless toys!
