Do you have Spring Cleaning on the brain?  If so, you’ll definitely want to make some of my

DIY Shower Cleaner

Now, my husband my argue that I’m not the best cleaner in the entire world, but I think I do a pretty good job, especially with a toddler running around immediately after I finally get something in the house cleaned or put away.  The best part about it the DIY Shower Cleaner?  There are no toxic chemicals which is always a good thing in my book!  I absolutely hate the smell of strong cleaners, don’t you?

DIY Shower Cleaner

To make the cleaner, you’ll need:

8 oz. Dawn Dish Detergent {I’ve always used the classic dark blue kind for this cleaner}

8 oz. warm distilled white vinegar

a few drops of essential oils {optional}

20 oz. spray bottle

scrub brush

ingredients

Pretty straight forward here people…squeeze 8 oz. of Dawn dish detergent into your empty spray bottle.  If you buy an empty bottle at the store, try to find a variety that has measurements on it already{makes life a little easier} .  Warm 8 oz. of distilled white vinegar in the microwave for approximately 30 seconds, then pour the vinegar into the bottle with the Dawn.  To make the cleaner have a bit more of a pleasant scent, you can add a few drops of essential oils in your favorite scent.

After putting the cap on the mixture, shake it up to mix the ingredients all together.  Spray on all surfaces in your shower {tile, caulking, shower fixtures, floor, walls, glass doors, etc…}

dirty

Let stand for at least 10 minutes.

Then get ready to do some scrubbing with your handy dandy scrub brush.

Soon you’ll have a beautiful, glistening, clean shower in no time!

      Great make sure you let everyone know not to let the vinegar touch marble it will etch it.

    I am curious as to why you heat the vinegar first. I haven’t heard of that before. I have been using Vinegar and blue Dawn to clean my shower for a couple months now, using an idea I also found on Pinterest. Rather than a spray bottle, I use a kitchen scrubbie sponge with the built in handle to hold dish soap, etc. I use it while I am in the shower. Works great! Just wondering if I need to be heating it for a certain reason. Thanks!!

      I honestly have no idea. I was just always told to heat it before mixing it all together when cleaning. I bet it’d be fine either way!

      I think it just mixes up better if it’s a little warm. I’ve never seen anyone give a reason for heating it either!

    warm vinegar dissolves hard water better than anything ive seen… I think that’s why you see it used to clean out coffee pots and irons and things…. haven’t figured out a way to use hot vinegar once its been mixed with the dawn though…. would you have to re-heat every time you clean the shower?
